Chinese companies will participate in the biggest textile and fashion forum in Bulgaria

Several Chinese manufacturing companies have applied as exhibitors at TexTailor Expo 2019. This is the biggest exhibition of textile and fashion in Bulgaria, which was established last year and immediately became widely popular in the Balkans. Its second edition will be held between November 7th and 9th , 2019 at International Fair Plovdiv.

Following the large-scale participation of Turkish companies in the previous year, now we will exhibit the Chinese manufacturers of materials and equipment for the tailor industry which promises to be of great interest to the Bulgarian producers. In 2018 about 100 exhibitors from seven countries took part in the TexTailor Expo, whereas this year this number is expected to grow.

Our vision for TexTailor Expo is not only to organize a regular exhibition, but to create a business-to-business complex networking of interest and use for all our participants. We were encouraged by the success of our exhibitors in the previous edition where trade deals were conducted, the manufacturers expanded and strengthened their international business contacts with more than 3000 business visitors from 13 countries worldwide – the Expo itself quickly turned into a unifying forum for the Balkan fashion industry.

The event builds the connection between art, education, science and industrial manufacturing with the sole purpose to enable the Bulgarian producers to deliver their own products and services, thus overcoming the labour crisis and preventing collapse in the industry. Currently the textile and apparel trade accounts for 2,1 bln euro per annum or 11,5% of the GDP in the country.

TexTailor Expo depicted modern technologies, machinery, accessories and materials for the textile and sewing industry, the ready-to-wear stream and the seasonal fashion lines. Graduates from the vocational schools of all levels presented their own projects; a start-up zone was organized for the young entrepreneurs and designers, a designers’ area to create new outlooks and catwalk. All these features will be part of the Expo in 2019 and the accompanying program will be enriched by its seminars and lectures on the trends in fashion, the export marketing and other topics of interest in all aspects of the industry.

TexTailor Expo shows the two sides of fashion – the continuous search of aesthetics and the unstoppable strive for technological innovation. This is exactly what makes the Expo so fruitful and provoking both for professionals and the wider audience, - as concluded by Dr. Ivan Sokolov, executive Director of International Fair Plovdiv.

On the photo: Following the last year’s success, Chinese companies will take part in TexTailor Expo 2019. The exhibition became textile & fashion core in the Balkans even with its first edition last year.

Fashion from the Future Presents "TexTailorExpo" in Plovdiv

The textile industry in Bulgaria makes a turn from CMT production to own product.

The fashion highlights for the autumn-winter season 2019/2020 will be featured on the TexTailorExpo by Sara Allwood, Creative Director of the The Trend Bunker online platform. She will also reveal one of the most important secrets of the fashion industry - how to predict and create new trends. Seminars are free for exhibitors and visitors to the first edition of TexTailorExpo, which will take place from 8 to 10 November this year at the Plovdiv International Fair.

Sara Allwood is known as an expert who has successfully anticipated the development of fashion lines and markets. Her lectures during the exhibition will be particularly useful for start-up designers and entrepreneurs in this industry for which we have dedicated the Start-Up Zone. They will have the opportunity to showcase their ideas, concepts and collections, to present new brands. Thus, the exhibition will demonstrate another aspect of the fashion of the future.

Futuristic elements will also be in the special Designer Space. It is styled without walls to be able to apply the contemporary techniques for presentations used in the biggest fashion exhibitions. The artists will present innovations and projects that create the new fashion visions of tomorrow.

The Start-up Zone and Designer Space will support the turn of the Bulgarian apparel industry. Both initiatives will connect manufacturers with designers to help them create their own brands of ready-made clothing and thus come out of the crisis, "said Valia Dankova, Manager of Spex, co-organizer of TexTailorExpo together with International Plovdiv Fair.

There are many orders for CMT production at the moment, but it is disadvantageous for manufacturers, who are forced to raise wages because of labor shortages. Only last year's salary growth is 15%, it raises costs without raising revenue and reduces profits. Businesses can not compensate for this decline as the lack of staff stops them from accepting new orders.

Workers' shortage is already critical, experts say. In their view, the goal is to create a product with high added value - ready-made clothing to maintain profitability and avoid collapse of the industry. TexTailorExpo 2018 will offer effective solutions in this direction with Sara Allwood's Workshops, Start-up Zone, Designer Space, and Fashion Shows.

The Forum will bring together companies from the Balkan Peninsula working in the Textile, Clothing and Leather Industry. They will demonstrate technology, textiles, supplies, consumables and finished products. The accompanying program includes seminars for specialists and a conference on the problems of the industry. There will also be a shopping area. Thus, the international exhibition under the auspices of the Minister of Economy will be interesting and useful for producers, traders and consumers.

Avant-garde fashion collections created by students - part of the program of "TexTailorExpo 2018"

Vocational high schools, specializing in the fashion industry, will also be presented with booths. This will enable direct contacts between their alumni and textile and clothing manufacturers. The initiative aims to offer solutions to one of the main problems in the industry - the shortage of staff.

Staff shortages are already critical, experts say. The employed in the apparel industry decreased by 6% only last year and for the period 2015-2017 the decrease is almost 12%, according to data from the National Statistical Institute. "This is not due to job cuts. On the contrary, employers have difficulty in hiring new employees. In our factory, for example, the pay of our good workers is 800-900 leva, for some positions it exceeds 1000, but we find it hard to find people, "explains Lachezar Stoyanov, director of a company that will participate in TexTailorExpo.

In order to promote among young people some of the most demanded professions on the labor market, the specialized vocational schools will be presented with stands, and also on the fashion podium with projects of their alumni. The initiative is implemented in partnership between the National Association of Fashion Schools (NAUM) and the organizers of "TexTailorExpo 2018".

“This is a very good opportunity to show the industry our achievements, innovation and creativity among young people, and to orient them properly in the labor market, "said Rositsa Ivanova, Chairman of the Board of NAUM. According to the organizers, this will build a strong link between business and education, which is one of the most effective solutions to the labor crisis in the industry. The exhibition is an interesting and useful initiative because it presents not only the production, but also the vocational training, added Rositsa Ivanova.

The Forum will bring together companies from the Balkan Peninsula working in the Textile, Clothing and Leather Industry and will revive the exhibitions dedicated to the three branches. TexTailorExpo has the ambition to become an innovative and productive hub for the Balkans, demonstrating technologies, equipment, materials, consumables and finished products. The accompanying program includes fashion shows, seminars for specialists and a conference on the problems of the industry.

Rostitsa Ivanova, Chairman of the National Association of Fashion Schools (NAUM) about TexTailorExpo

"The TexTailorExpo exhibition for the textile and apparel sector is an interesting and innovative initiative because it revives the tradition to represent achievement in the field, generate ideas and lead to development and improvement. The exhibition should be held annually because it presents not only the textile and apparel sector but also the achievements in vocational education and training.

The National Association of Fashion Schools (NAUM) works with TexTailorExpo because it is an opportunity to introduce the schools that are members of the association, to promote our achievements, to show young people innovation, creativity and to orient them properly for the labor market. Through the exhibition, we will present the essence and sigificance of NAUM, because we believe there are wonderful partnership opportunities with TexTailorExpo. It will enrich our ideas and help make our ambitions a reality.

At the exhibition in November 2018, NAUM will participate with a fashion show and booths where we will introduce our schools.

I wish success to the event!"
